Youth Development Spotlight: Hayleigh Bostic

Hayleigh Bostic, an MSW Intern with your Youth Development program, has let her passion for helping others guide her into some interesting paths for a social worker. I’m talking about earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After a thorough brainstorm of her career goals, going to graduate school for social work was the next step.

Now, Hayleigh has been working with children and young adults for a while. She tells everyone about how much she enjoys serving that population with Family Service. The loves when there is a moment when she is assisting someone and a light bulb clicks on after a rough day.

“All of the sudden, it’s not so hard anymore and they know things can get better.”

Self-described as happy, understanding, and trustworthy, Hayleigh hopes that she will continue working towards growing her knowledge as a social work student while she is helping change the lives of the people she encounters. That’s why her favorite quote comes from The Lion King’s Rafiki:

“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”

And, in case you didn’t know, Hayleigh makes some of the best desserts brought to any pot-luck style celebration.
