Part-time position. Provides psycho-educational groups, service learning, parent education in schools and after school. Transports and mentors youth.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to utilize computerized information systems
Experience working with a diverse range of children and youth
Substance use prevention and/or treatment experience preferred.

Family Care Coordinator/Parent Educator

Part-time position as a mental health/wraparound family care specialist, who provides in-home services as well as parent education classes, working some evenings. Care coordination services are designed to help parents at risk of or with a history of child abuse or neglect to change their unhealthy patterns of behavior and to strengthen their capacity to live as a healthy, functioning family unit conducive to positive developmental outcomes for the children. The parent education curriculum is designed to develop in parents the capacity to raise their children to make healthier decisions and to avoid substance use.

Requirements include: a bachelor's degree in a human services discipline, ability to utilize computerized information systems, one year experience working with children and their families, knowledge of child development and community resources, sensitivity to cultural variations, valid VA driver's license and good driving record, some evening duties.

Intake Specialist
FT position working 8:30 AM-5:00 PM Monday through Friday

Job Summary: Provides information and referrals when needed. Obtains client information for services, assigns clients to counselors, establishes appointments for non-insured clients and verifies insurance. Also verifies EAP and/or third party payment for requested services when needed.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in human service related field (ex. counseling, social work, psychology, human services, etc.), 90 hours of coursework in counseling, and/or at least one year of full-time experience working with mental health populations
  • At least one year full-time paid employment in a social service agency
  • Knowledge of insurance & verification process, EAP, and third party payors’ policies and procedures

: Provides counseling services to individuals, couples and families, supervision to LPC-eligible counselors, and participates in team and staff development.

Community Action Team/Volunteer Coordinator
Job Summary: Part-time position.  Facilitates volunteer activities of the 4 culturally diverse community action teams within the Prevention Council of Roanoke County.  Implements best practices through the strategic prevention framework process. 

Reports to:  Nancy Hans, Prevention Council Coordinator

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred.
Knowledge and experience of coalition building best practices and experience with facilitating community coalitions/volunteers. Experience with team building. Knowledge and experience with substance abuse prevention and strategic planning processes and experience with prevention programming. Excellent writing skills. Experience with public relations and volunteer management. Above average ability to utilize computerized information systems to  complete reports and required communications. Ability to travel within local and state area for coalition building and prevention training/presentations. Experienced working with a diverse range of children and youth.Strong verbal communication skills to articulate coalition’s purpose.
